Any woman in december
Hi,
I am 26 years old and beginner.
I am looking to do shared housing with at least one other woman who is there to work on her health, etc.
I will be there for 3 weeks and want to lose at least 6kg !!!
My friends have been feeding me horror stories about the things that can happen to a girl travelling on her own in Thailand... I'm literally planning on getting off the plane and jumping in a cab with directions to Ao Nang. I'll be fine won't I?
I was going to come in November, but December is looking better considering the weather
Cheers

women in Thailend
sorry ... I am no female to share a room with ... just wanted to comment on your point of how dangerous it is for a woman in Thailand ... I've trained all over Thailand (at least 7-8 different camps) and I find it a very safe place to be as long as you don't act silly (but that would be dangerous anywhere) ... I've known dozens of farang women training and travelling in Thailand and having a time of their lives ...

Yes Thailand is usually safe for foreigners who don't act bad, particulary in Ao Nang which is a developing city of Thailand it's less busy than other big places like Phuket, Pattaya i don't even talk about Bkk.
Here the atmosphere is more friendly and human i should say

Thanks K_bab for your reply I feel better now...
I just wanted to ask a few questions please, hope thats cool..
1)Think I can only get 3 weeks off work but is that long enough time to gain anything from the camp?
2)As I won’t be so used to training that is so intense, is it ok to just take a day or so out to chill and recover? or even just give certain things a miss in the days routine? or would a less intense camp be better suited?
3)How do student get from the airport to camp?
4)Are there any certified instructors courses available which would allow you to teach once home?
5)I have a knee injury which doesn’t stop me training in kickboxing I simple work around it and try to avoid kicks to the knee, would it be acceptable to do the same with muay thai?
Cheers

Hi 'Assawindam'
I try to answer to your questions
1/ I think three weeks training is never long enough, but it's better than nothing and i m pretty sure that it will be enough to lose 4 kgs at least.
2/ that's not a problem, you have to listen your body, and take extra days off if you need for recovery.
3/ Taxi from the airport is best.. fare costs 600 Thai Baht and takes approx 20 minutes to get to the gym but you have the bus also for 150 bahts wich stops a few times in Krabi town before to reach Ao Nang so count 45 mins to be in Ao Nang and then you can take a tuk tuk to the gym 5 mins and 20 to 40 bahts more.
4/To teach Muay Thai in foreigners country legally you have to pass the exam of the federation which controls the sport so i m afraid that the certificates available here won t be valid in your country but it can be good for your CV.
5/ Our Trainers can work around your knee injury, this is not a problem.

Re: Any woman in december
Hi there...
I'm planning on coming to Emerald Gym in 2days to get in shape and lose weight. I read that students run at least for about half an hour in the morning, but since I am out of shape, I can only jog for a few minutes, walk a few minutes, jog a few minutes, etc. I've started running in the mornings to train, but I don't know that I'll be able to run half an hour by the time I get there. Anyone have any comments or advice?
Thanks, cheers

Don't worry Assawindam
, you will start slowly and increase your level day after day, also aerobic sessions are available after the muay thai courses many local women enjoy it at the gym

Running
Hi assawindam,
I practice martial arts since many years and I don't thing that's the most important! Of course it's better but not the most! To be honnest, I hate to run! You can find others exercices to warming up! It's what I do all the time! Jumping on a wheel, boxing shadow, etc!
See you

I haven't trained at Emerald yet and looking forward to coming end of March (Sing from Phuket recommended this gym to me my last trip in Nov) !!! Just to share my experience : it is always better to pre-condition yourself before the trip so you get the most out of it. That said don't worry Thai trainers are very accommodating and will push you only to the reasonable levels ... and believe me no matter how much you train before it will never be enough after they are done with you LOL .... listen, and I am sure others will confirm, this is incredibly addictive. After you've done one camp you'll be coming back to Thailand for more and the worst thing you'll never be able to explain to your friends and family why the heck you are doing it ... have fantastic training !!!!
